Siteworks dirt for fill
The many different types of dirt for fill include regular fill, white fill, premium fill, marl, top soil, and on occasion, bank run shell can be used for fill as well for projects that are in greater need of stabilization.
Clean dirt for fill is often made up of rocks, stone, shells and sand. Fill should be clear from all organic matter. This is because organic matter decomposes easily which can result in the creation of empty space packets causing settling. After the project has been finished, settling can cause structural damage. This dirt is also often called Maurel. It is ideal for building berms, altering elevation, and providing a solid base or foundation for a project.
White fill is another type of fill that is very similar to fill dirt. It works well as a foundation for projects. It also is effective for altering elevation, as well as building up berms.
Fills that do include organic matter are called top soils. These soils are used for planting, design, and landscaping. Top soil is like the icing on the cake. It is the top layer of dirt used for landscape rather than building a proper foundation. An LBR rating is usually required for all fill dirt in accordance to the projects plans.
Fill dirt is most commonly used to alter the grade and elevation for road construction, house pads, commercial projects, and other development and site work using artificial means. It is used very commonly to change the level of ground for landscaping as well as elevation for the base of a home or other project. Fill dirt can be used to form slopes, bases, and foundations before continuing the vertical build of a project. It is also used very frequently to build up and construct embankments, shoulders, and berms.
